HISTORY
Like many things in life, CoinCorner first sees the solution to a problem. Back in 2014, it was difficult to buy Bitcoin in the UK and it was even harder to buy it somewhere you trusted.

STORY OF SUCCESS
- June 2014- Founded CoinCorner
- July 2014- Launched CoinCorner.com
- September 2014 – Launched our mobile app, API, and payment gateway
- October 2014 – Became one of the first places in the UK to allow customers to buy Bitcoin with credit and debit cards.
- March 2015 – Received a small amount of Angel Investment which meant we could move to a bigger office.
- June 2015 – Launched a summer internship program allowing 4 local students to work in the Bitcoin industry CoinCorner turned 1 Hired 2 new staff members, taking our team from 4 to 6.
- September 2015 – Announced support for EUR and rolled out our services across Europe.
- March 2016 – Granted Designated Business status by the Isle of Man Government
- June 2016 – CoinCorner turned 2
- September 2016 – Shortlisted for the PokerStars Digital Champions Award at the Isle of Man Awards For Excellence
- July/November 2017 – Shortlisted (again!) for the Digital Champions Award at the Isle of Man Awards For Excellence. Moved to bigger offices to accommodate our growing team.
- January/August 2018 – Implemented SegWit, Set up and ran our first Lightning node, and Introduced GBP card withdrawals.
- November 2018 – WON the PokerStars Digital Champions Award at the Isle of Man Awards For Excellence (third time lucky!)
- April 2019 – Added support for UK banking services with UK Faster Payments. Shortlisted for Best Advertising Campaign at CIM’s Excellence Awards for our ‘Be More Brenda’ campaign
- May 2019 – New share scheme was introduced, making all employees shareholders of CoinCorner. Launched CoinCorner Checkout – our Bitcoin payment solution for UK businesses
- October 2019 – Tech Team started contributing to Bitcoin Core development. Launched MtSocks – Bitcoin socks that teach people about Bitcoin in a new and exciting way
- June 2020 – Launched the first Bitcoin cash-back service for the UK and Launched our Bitcoin Auto Buy (DCA) service
- October 2020 – Launched Britcoiners – a Bitcoin podcast hosted by the team, with industry-led opinions on important stories from the week, and Launched our Bitcoin cash-back browser extension and the product search feature
- December 2020 – Hired even MORE staff and ended the year as a team of 20 Partnered with Bitrefill to enable customers to buy gift cards with Bitcoin from Bitrefill, directly from CoinCorner.
- January/May 2021 – Moved to EVEN bigger offices to accommodate the EVEN bigger team, Added support for the Bitcoin Lightning Network.
- September 2021 – Acquired Coinfloor and Became a carbon-neutral Bitcoin business
